Its main manifestations can be divided into two categories:
(1) Symptoms of lower urinary tract obstruction: ① Frequent urination and increased nocturnal urination are early symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The number of nocturnal urination can often reflect the degree of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The development of nocturnal urination from 1-2 to 4-5 times indicates that the degree of obstruction is gradually increasing. ② The initial manifestation of dysuria is laborious urination, slow start of urination, and it takes a long time to urinate. Later on, it develops to dysuria, fine urine flow, interruption of urinary line, weakness in urination, and shorter urinary range. When urinating, it requires tummy swelling, and sometimes there is a feeling of incomplete urination or dripping after urination Hematuria is easily caused by bleeding due to the expansion of blood vessels on the surface of hyperplastic glands, which is generally terminal hematuria, and can also cause a large number of gross hematuria throughout the whole process, or even urinary retention due to blockage of blood clots. ④ Urinary retention is mostly seen in the late patients with this disease. The obstruction is relatively serious, and urine cannot be discharged from the bladder. Acute urinary retention occurs, often caused by cold, drinking, holding urine for too long or infection.
(2) Obstructive complications: Due to the inability of urine to be discharged normally from the bladder, the following symptoms can occur on the basis of benign prostatic hyperplasia: ① Infection can be accompanied by prostatitis, bladder urethritis, epididymitis, and pyelonephritis, with related symptoms. ② Due to lower urinary tract obstruction, uremia can cause bilateral hydronephrosis, renal insufficiency, and clinical manifestations such as anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and anemia When abdominal mass obstruction causes significant hydronephrosis in the kidneys and ureters, the enlarged kidneys can be touched; When the bladder is filled, a cystic mass can be felt in the middle of the lower abdomen Other symptoms such as prolapse of the anus, blood in the stool, hernia, and varicose veins in the lower limbs may occur due to long-term increased abdominal pressure due to difficulty urinating.
