The couple have been together for two years, but have never been able to conceive a child; Originally, the husband thought it was his wife's problem and took her to the hospital for a check-up, but everything turned out to be normal, which put a lot of pressure on being a husband. It is a great shame for men not to "call their fathers", which shames their ancestors
What tests can't men call 'dad' for?
1. Examination of reproductive organs
For male infertility, genital examination is very important. The examination includes visual and palpation of the penis, urethra, testicles, seminal vesicles, prostate, etc. Look for severe phimosis, induration, inflammation, tumor and dysplasia. Is there any difficulty urinating, fistula, hypospadias, induration, or stenosis in the urethra.
Check the size of the prostate to see if there is any hypertrophy, induration or mass. Massage the prostate to get prostatic fluid and send it to the laboratory for examination. Testicular examination involves measuring the size of the testicles to see if they are symmetrical on both sides, how hard they are, whether there are indurations, tenderness, hydrocele, tumors, and the presence of cryptorchidism. The examination of the spermatic cord includes the hardness of the vas deferens, the presence of nodules, tenderness, and varicocele.
2. Semen examination
This is a mandatory test for male infertility, including semen volume, color, pH, semen liquefaction time, sperm density, sperm activity, and sperm morphology.
3. Prostatic fluid examination
The normal prostatic fluid is milky white and weakly acidic. Under high power microscope, the number of white blood cells is less than 10. If there is inflammation, the number of white blood cells will increase significantly.
4. Sperm penetration test examination
In clinical practice, it is common to see spouses of men with normal semen examination, but unable to fertilize and conceive. This means that normal semen does not necessarily indicate that sperm has penetration ability, and further sperm penetration tests must be conducted, as the penetration ability of sperm is the actual fertility of men.
5. Endocrine examination
The function of the hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis can be understood through gonadotropin releasing hormone or clomiphene stimulation tests, and measuring testosterone levels can directly reflect the function of interstitial cells. If necessary, measure thyroid hormone, adrenocortical hormone or prolactin.
