Many drugs used in clinical practice can affect the occurrence, maturation, and chances of conception of sperm, thereby affecting fertility. Of course, the impact of drugs is closely related to individual constitution and sensitivity, and not all users will experience low libido or infertility.
According to experts, drugs that can cause side effects of male infertility include:
(1) Chemicals: the damage to reproductive function is mainly manifested in the reduction of spermatogenesis and destruction of testicular spermatid. After medication, it can cause a decrease in sperm production, possibly due to the toxic effect of the drug on the spermatogenic epithelium.
(2) Anesthetics: Anesthetics can reduce male mobility and inhibit sperm production. Some people can cause erectile dysfunction, delayed ejaculation, or inability to ejaculate.
(3) Hormones: Both estrogen and androgen can cause sexual function problems. If excessive androgen is used for a long time, it can inhibit the nine wheel system of the hypothalamus pituitary gland in men, leading to testicular atrophy and reduced sperm production. The application of estrogen can easily lead to rapid decline or disappearance of male sexual desire, leading to impotence, and can also lead to delayed or inability to ejaculate.
(4) Sedative drugs: mainly due to their inhibition of central reactions, they can cause impotence and ejaculation disorders.
(5) Anti hypertensive drugs: The common side effect of this large group of drugs on male patients' reproductive function is to reduce their libido, inhibit ejaculation, and cause temporary or even permanent infertility.
