According to ABC, a couple in Connecticut, USA, who have been married for 80 years, will be named the longest married couple in the United States.
On November 25, 1932, John Berthal and Ann Berthal, who lived in Fairfield, Connecticut, got married. John is now 101 years old and Ann is 97 years old.
They have lived happily together for 80 years now, having 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
The Christian marriage organization "World Couple Talk" located in California organizes an annual event to find exemplary couples to promote the spirit of long-term marriage and encourage young couples. They locked in the Beta couple in 2013.
The statement released by the "World Couple Talk Conference" stated that the story of the Berthal couple has inspired everyone. They made solemn promises to each other 80 years ago and have upheld them throughout these years, showing everyone hope.
The organization will hold an award ceremony for the Betals on Saturday (9th) at the home of one of their granddaughters in Fairfield.
Although the couple did not give their marriage advice to the young couple, they said the secret to their happy life for many years was simple: mutual humility and no grudges.
