The storyteller is a female friend who currently works as the general manager of a large enterprise. When I was young, I was ambitious and full of energy, and at the age of only 26, I was promoted to associate manager. This was a groundbreaking thing at the time, and according to our company's system, it would be considered young to be an assistant manager at the age of 35.
I worked as an assistant manager from the age of 26 to the age of 31, but I still haven't been promoted. When I was 32, I had a chance to be promoted to vice president. However, the senior management of the company promoted another person whose ability could not convince me because of ethics and youth.
I was very dissatisfied at the time and handed out my resignation the next day. However, the resignation was quickly returned. The general manager called me to the office and said to me, 'You can take a two-week leave for now. I'll wait until you come back from your vacation.'.
Actually, I have long longed to leave my job and travel. On that day, I immediately asked the travel agency to arrange food and accommodation for me. I plan to start from Prague and travel west on my own along Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich. The next day, I flew to Prague.
I didn't settle down until I arrived in Prague. As soon as I went shopping, I met that teddy bear. That's a teddy bear taller than me, furry, with eyes that look so cute. I stood there, simply mesmerized by the sight.
When I asked the boss, I realized that teddy bears were the first prize in the darts game, winning three yuan hearts, and were only given as gifts but not for sale. I sighed and thought to myself, 'How could you possibly hit three yuan in a row?'? I turned my head and had to leave, but after taking two steps, I reluctantly turned back. I told myself, at least give it a try!
Each shot of four darts costs one dollar. I just bought four darts like this. Four darts have been shot, not to mention the bull's-eye, not even the target has been hit. However, it's strange to say that after four darts, I suddenly felt like I knew how to shoot the darts.
I bought four more darts and fired them hard, and my intuition was indeed right. The three that hit the red heart and the one that missed the red heart were also quite close. I won. I shouted and jumped excitedly, and even the boss looked at me in surprise with an undeniable gaze.
So, I walked in the ancient city of Prague holding a huge teddy bear, and everyone looked at me. I used to enjoy this kind of gaze, but soon I felt trouble. I walked to the post office holding the teddy bear and tried to pack and mail it back to Taiwan.
I competed with the Czech postal staff on the spot and measured for half a day until I saw the shipping cost of the package they opened. I can't remember the detailed price, it's just a price that almost knocked me out.
I walked out of the post office holding the teddy bear again. The same postage is enough for me to buy ten teddy bears in Taiwan. The problem is that Taiwanese teddy bears are not as cute as European teddy bears. Besides, leaving such a cute teddy bear in Europe really gives people a sense of guilt of never giving up.
I had to endure the scorching sunshine of Europe, from Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, to Munich, holding teddy bears all the way.
The teddy bear is fat and long, and cannot be folded, boxed, or checked in. Therefore, regardless of the type of transportation I take, I have to go to great lengths and even be asked to buy a ticket for the teddy bear. I am often exhausted and have to deal with children rushing to pick and touch me from time to time.
In short, this trip to Europe really messed me up! Strangely enough, it was the torture that made me suddenly enlightened. On the first day of returning to Taiwan for leave, the general manager called me to the office.
What did you see in Europe? He asked. quite a lot. Do you have any insights? I told him the story of the teddy bear. I have come up with something. I said. Oh? I was thinking, I said: some things may be a dream, but coming too early may not necessarily be good.
The general manager burst into laughter upon hearing this. So, he said, 'Have you decided to continue working?'? I nodded. He patted me on the shoulder with peace of mind and let me leave.
As I walked out of the general manager's office, I thought to myself, I am actually quite suitable for this job. So I continued working until now.
