Modern people are busy at work and often spend several hours in the office. However, according to internet rumors, office workers who sit in the office for a long time every day are not only prone to poor blood circulation problems, but also more likely to cause prostate cancer for men. However, doctors have reservations about this, believing that prostate cancer has no absolute relationship with sedentary behavior.
According to mainland media reports, frequently sedentary office workers can seriously affect blood circulation in the lower body, and the proportion of chronic prostate cancer is also high. This situation is particularly common among young people aged 20 to 40. Although there are many possible factors that can cause chronic prostate cancer, long-term sedentary behavior is one of the most important reasons.
The report also pointed out that office workers, including those who work in the office for a long time, are at high risk of developing prostate cancer. According to research, among those with prostate cancer, the proportion of people who habitually use computers for a long time is as high as 83.6%, indicating that long-term sitting is the main reason for developing prostate cancer.
When a man is sedentary for a long time, it can compress the prostate, causing blood circulation to slow down and local temperature to rise, causing the prostate to be in a compressed state for a long time, leading to congestion, swelling, and accumulation of local metabolites, leading to obstruction of the prostate gland tubes and impeded excretion of glandular fluid, which can easily lead to prostate cancer.
In addition to long-term sitting, excessive fatigue, nervousness, constipation, decreased immune function, lack of exercise, habit of smoking and drinking, love of spicy and stimulating food, frequent staying up late, or long-term urination are all factors that affect the induction of prostate cancer. Prostate gland and body metabolism are closely related, and if metabolism is poor, of course, it is easy to cause prostate cancer.
No solid evidence of prostate cancer caused by prolonged sitting
Regarding the above statement, Zhou Gu, the chief urologist of Shutian Clinic, said that there is no absolute correlation between sedentary behavior and prostate cancer. This may be just speculation based on statistical data. No cancer can be caused by a single factor, and it cannot be explained by just one reason. Therefore, this statement is not substantively supported.
Dr. Zhou Gu also emphasized that sedentary behavior can physically lead to pelvic congestion and slow blood circulation, which is not conducive to human health. However, there are currently no examples of male prostate cancer caused by sedentary behavior in Taiwan. However, past studies have shown that Westerners are indeed more likely to develop prostate cancer than Easterners, highlighting differences in genetics, ethnicity, and lifestyle habits, which can indeed affect prostate cancer.
[Doctor's Little Advice]:
Remind male friends that they should avoid prolonged sitting and immobility at work, change their sitting posture in a timely manner, and take appropriate rest after work. In addition, maintain good living and eating habits, exercise moderately, drink plenty of water and urinate to enhance human immunity and resistance, which can help improve the local congestion of the prostate, thereby reducing the risk of inducing prostate cancer.
