"Drinking and eating for both men and women is what makes a person's great desire exist." As early as 2000 years ago, Confucius pointed out that sexual life and diet are the two most fundamental things for a person. Understanding sex correctly can help maintain family harmony and play a very important role in preventing and treating male sexual dysfunction. Clinically, male sexual dysfunction mainly includes low libido, erectile dysfunction (ED), premature ejaculation, and non ejaculation. The incidence rate of sexual dysfunction is very high. For example, the incidence rate of premature ejaculation is 14% - 41%, and the prevalence of male ED in Asian population is 2% - 88%. These diseases require comprehensive treatment, and drugs are only one aspect. A correct understanding of sexual life also plays an important role in treatment.
First of all, pay attention to communication between partners. In the poem "Soul and Meat" by American poetess Anne Brett, the soul and flesh are compared to biological sisters. Sexual life should also achieve the best combination of emotions and sexual behavior, and emotions are the foundation. Sexual behavior without emotions is ultimately bound to lead to sexual dysfunction in one way or another. In outpatient clinics, I often encounter patients with low libido or ED due to emotional issues between partners. If the emotional foundation is solid, it will take into account the feelings of the other party and avoid sexual dysfunction issues. On the contrary, focusing solely on one's own pleasure can lead to a series of problems.
Secondly, it is necessary to understand the effects and limitations of drugs and attach importance to self adjustment. The key to treating sexual dysfunction is to rely on self adjustment. Drugs only help patients correct their bad state, rather than relying on drugs for lifelong maintenance. In the process of sexual life, if a man exerts himself for half a day without pleasure, he is prone to low libido over time. If expectations are too high and an erectile function is poor, it carries a huge psychological burden, which is bound to increase the risk of ED. During sexual life, when excitement exceeds a certain threshold, it cannot be controlled. Patients with premature ejaculation should stop before this and wait for the excitement to decrease before proceeding, which is helpful for the treatment of premature ejaculation.
Thirdly, we should avoid some wrong ideas. First of all, regarding the number of sexual encounters, some people believe that the more the better, while others believe that the less the better, in fact, moderation is sufficient. The ancients believed that: "At the age of twenty, one should vent every four days; at the age of thirty, one should vent every eight days; at the age of forty, one should vent every sixteen days; at the age of fifty, one should vent every twenty one days; at the age of sixty, one should shut down one's sperm and not let it go any further. If one is still physically strong, one should vent every month.". Modern medicine believes that there is no unified regulation on the number of times of sexual life, and the degree of sexual life should be flexibly controlled according to individual differences, generally based on the principle of not feeling tired the next day. Finally, many men worry about the size of their genitals. In fact, many patients are within the normal range, which is at most small. "There are more and more sensitive nerves around the vaginal orifice in women, and fewer nerves in the deep part of the vagina. Therefore, men with small penises need not worry. Small penises do not affect the quality of sexual life.". "The size of the penis does not determine the level of function, just as many great men in history were small men.".
