"I am a homosexual"
"I am a homosexual," a volunteer who attended the symposium told reporters yesterday afternoon. Unlike ordinary gay men, he has become an open volunteer in the circle since 2002. He said that the government and relevant institutions have provided help to homosexuals, but some practical work needs to be done well by people with such experience: "I certainly know this group better than non-homosexuals."
"We are like ordinary people"
This volunteer is very talkative and has a good career in Kunming. His home is in other places in the province. He said that homosexuals are not different from other people except for their sexual orientation. He often uses a metaphor to communicate with other homosexuals: "Some people are born left-handed, and homosexuality is the same reason. Except for different sexual orientation, most of us are law-abiding citizens, and are making contributions to society." He said that in middle school, this problem made him particularly distressed. Is it only they? Later, when I came to Kunming, I found that many people also met this situation, He said: "We often communicate with each other in a small range to relieve pressure. Later, I thought that since this cannot be changed, we should remind everyone to have sex in a safe way." He said: "Before that, there were no such volunteers in Kunming. At best, they only disclosed their sexual orientation in a small area around them. Now, there are 70 or 80 volunteers like me in Kunming, and I have loved this work for nearly three years." When he began to volunteer, he distributed publicity materials on STD and AIDS prevention to some insiders, However, many people did not understand: "They took condoms and walked away without looking at the information, saying that I love to be in the limelight." The result of perseverance made him very excited: "The relevant agencies have all done a survey on the scientific cognition of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS among homosexuals. At present, the proportion of scientific cognition has more than doubled compared to 2002. I feel particularly proud of the contributions of every volunteer."
Gay people need to reduce pressure
According to the volunteer, there are gay men of all ages in Kunming, and many of them have made great achievements in their careers. However, for a long time, there has been a lack of a place for public communication. With regard to the pressure from relatives, friends and society, he believed that homosexuals should face up to this reality. He said that this is also the reason why everyone is eager to have an open place to communicate: "The pressure is objective, and there must be a place for us to relax. Many of us will get married and have families. If there is no place to relieve the pressure, some people will not be able to bear it," he said, Everyone who attended the party here believed that it would provide a healthy and upward place for everyone. He mentioned MB (abbreviation of MONEY BOY) in particular: "MB has appeared in China, which is gay men who provide sexual services for money. We don't expect to see this phenomenon around us."
