1： Physical pleasure
Sex has three purposes, the first of which is to have children. In history, there were many cultures and religions that believed that the only legitimate purpose of sex was to have children. There is a Christian saint who said that sex is sinful, even between couples for the sake of passing on the family line, it is still a sin. A Christian leader once said, 'I really hope God could have come up with another way for people to inherit their lineage, so that people can avoid the sin of sexual activity.'.
The second purpose is to establish a certain relationship, such as a romantic or marital relationship.
The third type is for pure physical pleasure. One night stand clearly belongs to the third category, it is purely for physical pleasure. Of course, one night stands do not rule out the possibility of developing into the first and second purposes. For example, I have heard others say that some people may develop feelings after a one night stand and eventually establish a marriage, which is also the case. But it is indeed an accident in a one night stand, not the purpose it had from the beginning.
2： Not moral decay
How should one evaluate a one night stand morally? We conduct research on social phenomena, first by looking at what people are doing, second by looking at why people are doing it, why this phenomenon occurs, and less by discussing whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. So I think there are two roles in this: researcher and pastor. Pastors will definitely make moral evaluations, and researchers generally do not want to make such judgments in vain. Because morality varies from place to place, there is no universally applicable morality to evaluate people's behavior. For example, in the Cannibal tribe, cannibalism is immoral to outsiders, but it is moral in the Cannibal tribe. Everyone should have a new mindset, not to say that there is a fixed moral standard everywhere and at all times.
When it comes to one night stands, there is a one to many issue. These people do not choose a one-on-one relationship, but instead choose a one to many relationship, as they have many partners. The traditional morality of China has always been to live from one person to the next, to marry the chicken and live together for a long time. But from another perspective, if a person has changed many sexual partners in their lifetime, they may not necessarily be bad. It cannot be absolutely said that all people who have had a one night stand are morally degraded.
