Smoking and alcohol consumption are not only major enemies of eugenics and fertility, but also one of the causes of infertility. According to research, smoking in women can interfere with and disrupt normal ovarian function, leading to menstrual irregularities, premature menopause, and infertility. Smoking women, even if pregnant, are prone to miscarriage, premature birth, and stillbirth, and their children weigh much less than non-smokers. Due to the strong teratogenic substances contained in cigarette smoke, smoking in men often leads to a decrease in sperm count. Smoking 20 cigarettes a day results in a survival rate of only 50% of sperm, and multiple types of abnormal sperm appear, leading to infertility or the risk of giving birth to children with congenital abnormalities.
There has long been a saying in traditional Chinese medicine that there are many alcoholics without a queen. Modern medicine suggests that excessive drinking may endanger the function of the reproductive system, lead to endocrine disorders, and change the chromosome structure and number of germ cell. In the semen of long-term drinkers, the number of sperm decreases, motility decreases, and the incidence of impotence, infertility, and male feminization significantly increases. Alcohol can also hinder the development and maturation of female eggs. Like smoking, long-term addiction to alcohol can increase infertility and deformed babies.
Therefore, for the happiness of the family and the health of the next generation, unmarried and married young people should not indulge in smoking and drinking to avoid harming themselves and future generations.
