According to foreign media reports, the number of human sperm is decreasing at an alarming rate, with a maximum reduction of 38% in 10 years, largely attributed to unreasonable diet and lifestyle. A study in Spain shows that even in young men, sperm concentration decreases by an average of 2% per year. In the long run, the sperm level of infertility will soon be reached.
The study lasted for 10 years, and researchers began collecting corresponding data from over 200 men aged between 18 and 23 every year starting in 2001, while ensuring that the majority of the sample groups compared had the same age and similar characteristics of the collected subjects. By 2011, they found that the average concentration of sperm in these men's bodies had decreased from 72 million per milliliter in 2001 to 52 million per milliliter in 2011.
In another sperm study, British scientists concluded that in the 1940s, adult males had an average of 130 million sperm per milliliter of semen; In the early 1990s, it decreased to 87 million; By 2013, this average had decreased by 29% to 62 million, with a proportion of males less than 20 million reaching as high as 15%. It is generally believed that the number of sperm per milliliter of semen in males should exceed 60 million or more in order to fertilize the egg. Using this lever to draw a line means that 15% of adult males become useless. The public opinion community exclaimed: If we continue to develop like this, all humanity will face a crisis of extinction in the 21st century!
In December 2012, a similar study was published in France, which showed a significant decrease in the number and quality of sperm from their research subjects since the 1990s. Researchers also believe that this trend is related to diet, lifestyle, chemicals used for transgender, and even tight underwear.
There are several common sperm killers in daily life:
1. Wear tight jeans. Tight jeans not only compress male reproductive organs and affect normal testicular development, but also hinder sperm survival due to their lack of breathability and heat dissipation.
2. The bath temperature is too high. Under normal circumstances, sperm must develop normally in a constant temperature environment of 34 ℃ to 35 ℃. When bathing, the water temperature is too high, which often leads to hidden dangers. When taking a sauna, the room temperature can reach as high as 70 ℃ to 80 ℃, which is more than twice the normal bathroom temperature, which is not conducive to the growth of sperm or can cause excessive "dead sperm" and lead to infertility.
3. A zinc deficient and selenium deficient diet. Trace element zinc can promote sperm motility, prevent premature disintegration of sperm, and facilitate binding with eggs, indicating that zinc has a significant impact on fertility. Selenium is also an essential trace element in the human body, almost entirely derived from food.
4. Long term consumption of some food added with nitrite food preservative or meta sulfonamide food coloring agent, raw cottonseed oil, etc. may also lead to the decline of sperm quantity and quality.
5. Inhale kitchen fumes. Recently, a study by the School of Medicine at Shanghai Railway University found that 74 chemicals in kitchen fumes can cause cell mutations, leading to infertility and becoming a new "criminal evidence" of "family killers".
6. Medical drugs stimulate sperm. The sedatives, sleeping pills, anticancer drugs, hormone drugs, etc. in drugs can hinder sperm growth, so men should try to avoid long-term and large exposure to these harmful substances.
