Sexual Health
Parents should keep these four tips in mind when conducting sex education for their children
Sex is a natural physiological phenomenon, but many people consciously avoid the word 'sex' when they hear it. Because in the hearts of these people, sex is always related to obscenity and indecency. In the family, parents do not teach their children about sex education, and couples have very secret views on sex, feeling ashamed of it. A large number of facts have proven that closed sex education has drawbacks but no benefits. If children are not given sex education, they will go astray due to unclear sexual awareness and incorrect sexual knowledge.
How should parents raise their children correctly?
1. Don't blur children's gender awareness
After a child is born, it is necessary to distinguish between gender, name, and clothing choices, in order to prevent the child from developing a vague awareness of themselves and others from an early age, which can affect their life and sexual orientation. Many parents intentionally dress up girls as boys or girls because they prefer them, or intentionally dress up boys as girls, which can affect their children's self identification of personality and lead to changes in their future personality and behavior.
2. Sexual education runs through daily life
When children can understand language, they should receive sex education in their daily lives. For example, when taking a shower, dressing, having a haircut, and choosing toys, there must be significant gender differences, and children can also be educated through books, newspapers, photo albums, and movies. Stories and other methods can guide children to observe the growth and reproduction of animals and plants, enabling them to have a certain understanding of reproduction, accept nature, understand the essence of life, and have a preliminary understanding of sex.
3. Guide children to understand their bodies
Parents can choose appropriate times, such as taking a shower or sleeping, to explain the differences between men and women to their children, especially to make them realize that their reproductive organs are not as mysterious as other organs, to teach them how to clean their private parts, to sit down and talk to them at the appropriate time, to tell their children that the body belongs to them, and that everyone has the right to maintain privacy. If someone touches a child's body in a strange or uncomfortable way, they should be asked to stop immediately and inform their parents as soon as possible.
4. Actively answering children's sexual questions
When children ask related questions, it is inevitable for parents to use language and methods that the child can understand and accept to answer, in order to solve and satisfy their curiosity and desire for knowledge. Of course, parents can also find some scientific books or videos about sex education to help their children learn. When children have questions during the learning process, they should communicate with them with a frank attitude to quickly understand.
