According to a report on a US website, a new study shows that men are more interested in overweight women when they feel hungry, and prefer petite women when they are full. The study also found that when men are relatively poor, they also prefer women with overweight bodies.
Nelson, an associate professor of marketing at the New York University School of Business, said that although the psychological reasons behind this phenomenon are not yet clear, the analysis of research results shows that when men are hungry, there is always a signal in their hearts seeking wealth, and overweight women may also be this signal.
Nelson pointed out that the connection between economy, diet, and perception of female beauty is not the first to be mentioned. As early as the late 1970s, experts discovered this pattern. In wealthy countries, people generally prefer women with thin bodies; In poor countries, people generally prefer women with full figures. In fact, even among the poor in the United States, overweight women are more popular than skinny women. Nelson and Stanford University psychologist Dr. Morrison hypothesized that men may have a bias towards women's obesity due to differences in the amount of money and possessions.
They conducted statistical research among some college students and found that the weight of the ideal partner filled out by boys before entering the cafeteria was 3-4 pounds heavier than after leaving the cafeteria, and this difference is very common. This trend also emerged when researchers used the same method to investigate the economic foundation.
Nelson believes that currently no one can accurately explain why hungry or impoverished men find plump women more attractive. In addition, they also found that women who feel hungry prefer taller men compared to men.
