Questions:
My husband has prostate hyperplasia. Because of his bad stomach, he can't take medicine frequently. He tried to break Weng Litong capsule and smear it on the root of the penis. After holding on for a period of time, he found that it is really effective. I want to ask experts to analyze the scientific basis.

Wenglitong capsule itself is a drug for the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia. It has the effect of clearing heat and removing dampness, dispersing nodules and removing blood stasis. It is suitable for the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia caused by accumulation of dampness and heat and obstruction of phlegm and blood stasis. Patients usually have frequent urination, poor urination, or drip down, yellow and hot urine, burning or astringent urethra, tight abdomen, pain, bitter and sticky mouth, or thirst for drinking, yellow and greasy fur. The treatment methods need to clear heat and diuresis, open and close diuresis. Wenglitong external application has certain effect on relieving this type of prostatic hyperplasia.
However, it should be noted that this method is not suitable for other types of prostatic hyperplasia. For example, patients with deficiency of spleen and kidney qi are mostly characterized by poor urination frequency, weak urination, thin urine line, poor dripping, even nocturnal enuresis, fatigue, short breath, lazy speech, loss of appetite, dull complexion, or sagging anus, white fur, weak pulse. Such patients need to strengthen the spleen and warm the kidney, replenish qi and diuresis. Another type of syndrome is kidney-yin deficiency. The clinical manifestations of patients are frequent urination, discomfort, endless urination, feverish urine, fatigue, dizziness, tinnitus, five heart pains, sore waist and knees, dry throat and dry mouth, little or thin yellow tongue coating, and thin pulse. Treatment needs to nourish kidney yin, clear and facilitate urination.
Therefore, it is not recommended that patients should try this method easily. Before using it, it is best to consult with a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine to see what type of illness they belong to, so as to avoid misuse and delay treatment.
