How to remove weeds from the soul
A philosopher wandered the world with his disciples and returned ten years later, all full of knowledge.
Before entering the city, the philosopher sat down on a grassy field in the suburbs and said to his students, "Our studies are about to end. Now let's have our last lesson. What I want to know is how to get rid of these weeds." The disciples were very surprised, and they didn't expect that the philosopher, who had been exploring the mysteries of life, would ask such a simple question in the last lesson.
One disciple said, "Teacher, as long as you have a shovel, that's enough." Another disciple said, "Burning with fire is also a good way." The third disciple replied more simply, "Cut down the grass and root, just dig out the roots
After the disciples had finished speaking, the philosopher stood up and said, "That's all for class. After you go back, remove a piece of weed according to your own method, and come back a year later to meet
A year later, the disciples all came, but the place where they had gathered was no longer overgrown with weeds, it had become a field full of grains. The disciples sat down by the valley, waiting for the arrival of the philosopher, but the philosopher never came.
Decades later, the philosopher passed away. When the disciples were organizing his speech notes, they added a chapter at the end: the best way to eliminate weeds in the wilderness is to plant crops on it. Similarly, the best way to keep the soul undisturbed is to occupy it with virtue.
