In recent years, the concept of "lifestyle disorders" has gradually entered people's minds. In fact, in addition to coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other chronic diseases, the incidence of urinary tract infection is also closely related to poor lifestyle. So, what should we do at least to prevent urinary tract infections?
Drink plenty of water and urinate smoothly
When it comes to urine, most people's first reaction is that it is the "garbage" of the human body. Don't underestimate this dirty liquid, it is an indispensable part of the human body's metabolism. The meat, grains, and other foods eaten by people will eventually turn into "toxins" such as urea, uric acid, creatinine, and creatine in the bloodstream. Only by filtering through the kidneys and excreting them through urine can excessive "toxins" avoid harming health. Due to the fact that the human body consumes and excretes approximately the same amount of water every day, it is important to consume 1500-2000 milliliters of water every day to ensure urine output.
In addition to excreting toxins, urine also plays an important role in flushing the urinary tract, which is of great significance in preventing urinary tract infections and stones. Urine needs to pass through the ureter, bladder, and urethra to be finally discharged from the body. Normal people have bacteria living around the urethral opening, and some bacteria may also enter the bladder. Once the quantity reaches a certain level, it may cause infection. The reason why most people do not develop urinary tract infections is mainly because regular urination prevents bacteria from growing in the urinary tract.
Breathing and evaporation through the skin consume the body's water. Especially in hot weather, pores open up, and the amount of water released through the skin increases significantly compared to other seasons, leading to a decrease in urine output and urination frequency. The prolonged retention of urine in the bladder makes it easier for bacteria to reproduce. Therefore, when the weather is hot and sweaty, it is even more important to drink more water to prevent urinary tract infections.
Non smoking reduces irritation
Urinary tract infection is the most common disease threatening the health of the urinary system, and its occurrence is also closely related to smoking, alcoholism and other bad lifestyles. At the 2010 annual meeting of the American Urology Association, a study from Finland was announced. After excluding factors such as medication that may affect women's urinary health, researchers found that compared to people who have never smoked, smoking women are 1.8-2.7 times more likely to have urgency and 1.7-3 times more likely to have frequent urination.
For those who have experienced urinary tract infections, urologists at the Mayo Clinic in the United States remind them not to drink coffee, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks containing caffeine, as these drinks can stimulate the bladder and cause frequent urination during urinary tract infections.
In addition, patients with urinary tract infections should also eat less spicy food and try to minimize irritation to the urinary tract by combining their diet reasonably. When eating foods that are slightly warm, they should be paired with cold and cool ingredients. Don't add too much spicy seasoning such as garlic, chili peppers, and Chinese prickly ash, but pair it with cold vegetables such as cucumbers, lettuce, radishes, and tomatoes.
