The main route of infection is sexual transmission
It has been 20 years since the first local case of AIDS virus infection was found in 1992. As of September 31 this year, the city had reported 7196 cases of HIV infection, including 1989 cases of AIDS patients and 273 deaths.
It is reported that this year, AIDS infection in our city is mainly sexual, and the proportion of sexual transmission is increasing year by year, and multiple transmission routes coexist. A few years ago, AIDS was mainly infected by drug use and needle sharing.
Chen Lin, director of the AIDS Prevention and Control Department of the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that most of the infected people were men and young adults, and the infection of the elderly was also increasing year by year. The oldest AIDS infected person was more than 70 years old.
According to statistics, 86.1% of the AIDS virus infected people reported this year were men and 13.9% were women; Young adults aged 20 to 39 accounted for 80.2%, and those over 50 accounted for 6.8%.
There are many cases of infected persons in Luohu District
11.4% of the AIDS infected people are residents of the city and the population with residence permits, most of whom are migrants.
The distribution of AIDS cases in our city is uneven: there are fewer cases in Yantian District and Pingshan New District; There are many reports in Bao'an District and Longgang District, which are basically consistent with the population base of the two districts; There are many cases in Luohu District. The experts from the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention explained that this may be mainly related to the large number of entertainment places in the region, especially the large number of gay activity places.
As of September 31 this year, our city has carried out free AIDS antiviral treatment, with a total of 1515 people being treated. At present, 1352 people are being treated, an increase of 77% over 764 people in the same period last year.
In terms of AIDS testing, from January to September this year, our city provided 12000 free counseling and testing, 270000 pregnant women were screened, and 36 pregnant women with positive AIDS antibodies were provided with free antiviral drugs and other blocking measures.
