Liu Dongyun, an expert in reproductive genetics research at the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, introduced that a special survey conducted by the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital showed that the quality of male sperm (mainly including density, vitality, and viability) in China is decreasing at a rate of 10% every 10 years. In the past, the proportion of male to female infertility in couples was 2:8; Nowadays, the reasons for both spouses account for about 40% each, with another 20% being objective factors. At the "Fifth Academic Annual Meeting of Reproductive Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association" held in our city earlier, top fertility experts from home and abroad worried that the male infertility rate was increasing significantly year by year, and in the future, male infertility might exceed female infertility.
What causes the annual increase in male infertility rate? Liu Dongyun said that in addition to various disease factors, fierce competition, increasing pressure on men's work and life, and physical and mental exhaustion can reduce semen quality. The pace of modern life is accelerating, and men lack a regular lifestyle. Long term staying up late, irregular meals, lack of exercise, and prolonged sitting and lack of exercise also affect their physical functions.
