Clear diagnosis cannot be based solely on instrument inspection
"What B-ultrasound obtains is the image and contour of the prostate, which cannot be relied solely on to make a definitive diagnosis.". Prostate enlargement is not the same thing as prostatic hypertrophy or hyperplasia. In clinical practice, the vast majority of prostate diseases in young men are caused by inflammatory hyperemia and edema of the prostate, rather than by columnar hypertrophy or prostatic hyperplasia.
Most prostate diseases can cause prostate enlargement
Prostatitis, prostate cysts, prostate cancer, and prostate stones can all cause prostate enlargement. If it is caused by prostatitis, it can gradually return to normal after effective treatment. "Prostatic hyperplasia (commonly known as prostatic hypertrophy) is an aging disease in men caused by abnormal proliferation of the prostate parenchyma. Drug treatment can only improve clinical symptoms without causing the enlarged prostate to retract. Severe prostatic hyperplasia requires surgical resection.".
Prostatic hyperplasia is often accompanied by prostatitis
More than one-third of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia are accompanied by varying degrees of chronic inflammation, which is caused by poor urination leading to urine reflux, allowing bacteria to enter the prostate. Therefore, if the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia alone is not effective and continues to be accompanied by symptoms such as pain, it should be considered whether they are also suffering from prostatitis.
